Poole’s iconic new bridge to set sail

Testing of the striking 65t leaves for the Twin Sails bridge in Poole, Dorset, is underway.

The two final bridge decks have been installed, completing the structure across the Backwater Channel. The last sections of steel were assembled on site in Hamworthy then lifted by mobile transporters onto a barge and floated into place. Work is still to be completed on the walkways, lighting and the carbon-fibre masts to be attached ahead of opening in early 2012.
