Pipe jacking and tunnelling research promoted by bursaries

The Pipe Jacking Association (PJA) is calling for universities involved in MSC or other postgraduate research that supports pipe jacking or tunnelling activities to bid for its latest bursaries.

Although the bursaries are expected to be valued at £2,000, the PJA has said that larger funds could be made available for the most appropriate initiatives.

The PJA has said that the new tranche of funding follows on from successful past alliances with Oxford University, Cambridge Universities, Leeds University and Newcastle University, as well as its current work with City University. Past PJA bursary-supported research has benefited from dissemination to the industry through

 conferences, seminars, lectures and papers.

Bids for the funds must be made by mid-September for research to start in the following academic year and full details are available at

The PJA has said that all bursaries will be supported through support by a suitable experienced individual from one of its member companies.
