Piling preparation

Milford Haven

More than 220 new 1,066mm diameter tubular steel piles, measuring 50m long, must be installed. Besix-Kier is currently carrying out tension and compression tests to determine the bearing capacity of the sea bed.

Porpoises and seals share Milford Haven with super-tankers and to give them some warning of the impending acoustic assault, driving of new piles starts with a few light taps before the main hammering begins.
