Piling completed at Heswall treatment works

Construction of a new stormwater storage tank at Heswall waste water treatment works has reached a milestone with completion of piling work.

Bachy Soletanche has successfully installed 110 large diameter auger secant piles to form the 20m deep, 27m internal diameter tank shaft for main contractor Costain on the scheme funded by Dwr Cymru Welsh Water.

The 1180mm, 22.6m long piles were installed using two rigs working closely together to form a 5750m3 capacity storage tank to help prevent discharge of untreated water into the Dee Estuary.
