Pilgrims die in stampede at festival

More than 300 pilgrims died this week in a stampede at a Hindu festival in India.

Crowds panicked at a procession near the village of Wai, 125 miles south of Mumbai, where over 300,000 worshippers had gathered.

The stampede may have been caused by a fire, although initial reports also blamed overcrowding.
