Permits and the TMA - what's going on?

The Traffic Management Act is causing much angst in the industry, particularly among utilities concerned about the threat of permits.

But Department for Transport head of traffic management Mike Talbot is keen to stress that the Act is about more than permits.

'The Act is not just about managing works: it also tackles civil enforcement and places a network management duty on highways authorities, ' he says.
