I was surprised to read that the ICE south west region was recruiting a membership development officer (NCE 22 July); however I was even more surprised to see the salary the position commanded - £25k - especially as a chartered engineer was required.

With civil engineering struggling to recruit and retain graduate engineers this is a very important role in helping combat the skills shortage.

Surely a higher salary would help attract an enthusiastic chartered engineer with the industry and education experience necessary to perform this important role.
