PASSING WATER: Fifty teams of engineers attempted to build the best water transfer system they could in a matter of hours as part of the RedR challenge at last week's Civils 2002 event in Birmingham. Teams of four battled to design and build a system capable of transferring the most water from one butt to another 2m away in the quickest time. Between them the teams raised over £35,000 in sponsorship money for the Engineers For Disaster Relief RedR charity. A Binnie Black & Veatch team won with an innovative pipe and bucket system.
