CONGESTION CHARGING will be pushed to the top of the agenda at the Liberal Democrat party conference next week with an ICE hosted seminar.
ICE President Douglas Oakervee will kick off the evening followed by Liberal Democrat transport spokesman John Thurso giving a presentation on the party's policy.
To date the party has backed congestion charging in London, but is against extending the charging zone (NCE 3 June).
The lead engineer on London's congestion charge scheme, former ICE transport board chairman Derek Turner, will also speak at the meeting. ICE members will then be given an opportunity to ask questions.
The ICE has organised similar events at the Labour and Conservative party conferences on 29 September and 6 October respectively.
ICE members interested in attending should email paul. o'grady@ice. org. uk or call (020) 7665 2104.
The Liberal Democrat event takes place on Tuesday 21 September from 6.15pm-7.30pm, at the Wessex Hotel in Bournemouth.
