Parsons Brinckerhoff wins New Orleans tram contract

Consultant Parsons Brinckerhoff has won a contract to provide construction management services for New Orleans’s tram extension in Louisiana, southern USA.

Client the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) of New Orleans is extending its tram route with construction of 2.2km line from Canal Street to the Union Passenger Terminal through New Orleans’s central business district.

The project is being funded through a $45M (£28.2M) grant from the US Department of Transportation and further £50.1M from an RTA bond issue.

Construction began in August and is due for completion in June 2012.
