Parliament

Parliament has paved the way for restructuring stricken nuclear generator British Energy. The new Electricity (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill will allow government to spend money on buying British Energy companies and assets and removes barriers to the government acquiring shares in successor companies. It also removes limits imposed in 1989 on the amount of taxpayer's money that can be used sorting out British Energy's nuclear liabilities.
