Construction of the Mechtenberg footbridges in Germany is on target for completion ahead of the 21 June opening date. A team of consultant Buro Happold and architect Frei Otto designed the ú1.6M steel structures. The bridges comprise 70mm diameter solid steel rods clamped together to make up the fan shaped configuration. The first 130m long bridge crosses a main road and a stream. The smaller 34m bridge clears a second stream.
