On the spot

Name: Matt Gascoigne Age: 30 Job title: Taywood Engineering project manager.

Qualifications: MEng (Birmingham) GMICE.

Best thing about this job:

The challenge of carrying out a complex restoration on a live structure.

. . . and the worst: The heat on level 5, and the cramped working conditions.

Best job ever: This one.

And the worst: A project in Fleet Street - always under pressure, always behind programme.

Most embarrassing moment: Only days after lecturing my guys on the importance of personal protective equipment I turned up on site with my broken nose in plaster and had to admit I had not been wearing a helmet when I fell off my bike the day before.
