On the spot

Name: Chris Jackson Job: Head of community relations.

Qualifications: MICE, FIHT, Durham University Bsc Best thing about the job: Being able to meet people and deal with concerns: hopefully effectively.

. . . and the worst: I don't like the word worst.

Best job ever: Widening the M63 Barton Bridge. It was a high profile job that involved shifting a significant volume of concrete and a lot of traffic management. It was in the very early days of traffic management.

Most embarrassing moment on site: As a graduate engineer on site in Newcastle working on the foundation for a viaduct. Setting out an excavation in clay that had to be re-dug. I had set out a star shaped excavation when I should have done a rectangular one.
