On the cards

I was interested to read the article (NCE last week) regarding the SCSC skills cards for consultants on highways projects.

As a company that specialises in testing newly installed waterproofing membranes for integrity, we have been trying for the past 18 months to obtain these cards but have been informed that there is no category for our personnel or skills.

Apparently, we are not consultants or contractors.

Neither is there any indication that those involved in testing on construction sites will be given a 'skill' rating.

For the time being we are having to work on an exemption letter and hope that contractors let us on site. An unacceptable situation, as I am sure you will agree.
