On-site experience - Core objectives in March 2005

The requirement for design graduates to work for a year on a construction site coupled with at least two years in the office was removed in 1990 and replaced with a list of training objectives which included 'project implementation'.

In March this year the two objectives relating specifically to site experience were withdrawn.

Objective M4 (CEng) now withdrawn and covered under objective E6 Objective: Plan and manage the use of human and physical resources in the implementation of solutions.

Range: Plant/equipment.

Labour. Materials. Staff.

Planning. Use and performance.

Objective E6 Objective: Plan, organise, manage and control multidisciplinary resources.

Range: Programming/ Monitoring. Calculation and balancing of resource requirements. Cost monitoring.

Objective M9 (CEng) - now withdrawn Objective: Contribute to the handover and takeover of completed projects or parts of projects.

Range: Conformity with specifications. Staged handover. Commissioning programmes. As constructed information. Working manuals.
