On IMechE/ICE merger

ICE news

GSNC . Agrees with trying to achieve the goals as set out in the consultation document.

Is not convinced that a merger between the two institutions is the best way to achieve those goals.

Feels that there are too many problems and divisive issues that cannot be overcome.

Agrees that the ICE should talk to the IMechE about working more closely together.

Feels that a decision in favour of the merger has already been made at the top and this is now being pushed out to the membership.

Feels that the proposals are moving ahead too quickly with the next step being carried out before the last step is complete.

Feels that the consultation paper was too 'pro the merger' and should have spelt out the problems that would have to be overcome.
