Off yer Bike!

I refer to the article “Cycle Furore” (NCE 12 July) and totally agree with Jacobs’ policy of not using cycles for works use on public highways.

Unless there is a dedicated cycle route using the highway is without doubt a risk to life and body.
When having to use a highway route I use the footpath (notwithstanding risk to pedestrians) and when available a dedicated cycle route. It is my view very few vehicle drivers respect cyclist rights to use roads.

I now drive to Cannock Chase Forest and all my cycling (mountain bike) is off the road.
