ODA begins search for ready-mix concrete supplier

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has started the process to find a company to supply ready-mix concrete for the construction of the Olympic Park venues, infrastructure and associated works.
The ODA will award a license to only one supplier, to supply ready-mix concrete to all Olympic Park contractors. The supplier must be able to support the ODA's sustainable development strategy commitments, including minimising carbon emissions, and delivering at least 50% recycled materials by weight.ODA chief executive David Higgins said the single contract would ensure consistency. 'This will dramatically reduce the number of lorries delivering to the site and we will be looking for a supplier who can help us meet our aspirations of using sustainable methods to transport materials to the Olympic Park.'The company will also build a batching plant and have responsibility for the site-wide delivery, off-loading and distribution of concrete to contractors.
