NSG UK bought by French firm Altrad

NSG UK has been bought by French building products company Altrad in a deal that will keep managing director Mike Carr in charge of the Deeside-based group.

The Altrad Group, which is best known for manufacturing cement mixers and wheelbarrows, snapped up NSG UK in a bid to expand its scaffolding operation.

NSG UK provides scaffolding, access services, thermal insulation and industrial cleaning services to companies including Ineos Chlor Vinyls, Ineos Enterprises, Centrica, Balfour Beatty, Brunner Mond, Cammell Laird, Corus, Laing O’Rourke and Lilly.

The purchase, for an undisclosed sum, represents the fourth UK firm Altrad has acquired.

Carr said: “There is a tremendous opportunity for NSG UK to continue its growth with the support of the Altrad Group. We will be in a position to release further details of our future business plans in due course.”

NSG UK, founded in 1971, has a turnover of £20M and employs more than 300 people.
