Norwest Holst Soil Engineering's grouting division has started work on a major contract to consolidate mine workings at the site of the former West Hartford colliery near Cramlington in north east England. The £2.5M contract involves pond draining, site clearance and the drilling and grouting of abandoned shallow mine workings.
The site is to be developed into a 130ha business park for regional development agency One NorthEast.
Work began in autumn 2001 and is due to finish mid-2002. Engineer is Durham-based Bullen Consultants.
