Northern lights power visit

MEMBERS OF the Energy Board got wired to renewable energy sources during a recent visit to the north east.

Highlights of the trip were visits to the Photovaltic Centre, at the University of Northumbria, in Doxford, Sunderland, and to the Eco Centre in Hebburn, which generates power from a wind turbine, conserves heat through the building fabric, and is constructed from recycled materials.

An open Energy Board meeting beforehand in Newcastle discussed issues raised at the Climate Change conference in Kyoto in December 1997. Students from the University of Northumbria were invited to take part.
