Norfolk wind farm investigation awarded to Fugro

Scira Offshore Energy has awarded a contract to Fugro to carry out hydrographic and geophysical monitoring surveys at the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm site and along the export cable and transit routes.

Under the contract Fugro will undertake detailed scour surveys at each of the 88 monopile-support turbine locations as well as the two planned offshore substation sites, which are located 20km off the Northfolk coast. Bathymetric surveys also be carried out along the areas of export and inter-array cables.

Fugro previously conducted two extensive magnetometer surveys to detect unexploded ordnance at the Sheringham Shoal site to support the construction phase.

The current investigation will start later this month and the high resolution data will be collected using multibeam echosounders.
