The National Infrastructure Commission (NIC) has today (9 December) published the first paper in a series that explores factors affecting infrastructure supply and demand.
The paper, called The Impact of Technological Changes on Future Infrastructure Supply and Demand, will be used to help inform the National Infrastructure Assessment (NIA). The commission has been tasked with putting together the NIA once a Parliament.
Focusing on technology, the paper forms part of a series looking at the drivers of future infrastructure supply and demand in the UK. Its conclusions are designed to aid the commission in putting together plausible scenarios out to 2050.
The paper will also form part of the evidence base for the NIC’s new study, which will look at using new technology to improve infrastructure productivity.
The NIC is calling for feedback from industry on the paper. In particular, the commission welcomes references to further sources of evidence on the issues raised. Any comments should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org by 10 February 2017.
