ICE ACTION in the political and parliamentary arena is recorded in a new quarterly government affairs newsletter.
The ICE newsletter, launched in December, presents issues under parliamentary discussion that are of particular relevance to ICE members.
First edition looks at the Egan report, regional development agencies, water metering, transport white paper and foreign earnings deduction. Updates on each issue are followed by bullet pointed sections explaining ICE involvement.
Economic and political affairs manager Owen Simon, who developed the newsletter, said: 'We particularly hope that members in the local associations read it. The political map is changing with the advent this year of devolved parliaments in Scotland and Wales and the establishment of nine English Regional Development Agencies.
'We want to encourage more political proactivity from the local associations, particularly on the issue of devolution which will change the whole nature of the lobbying process in those regions. There will be a need for a devolved lobbying process.'
Copies are available on the ICE website or by sending an SAE to Owen Simon, ICE, 1 Great George Street, London SW1P 3AA.
