Heavy rain is believed to have triggered a landslide which resulted in closure of the A83 Rest and Be Thankful route in Scotland earlier today.
More than 100t of material was washed onto the road in the incident, which occurred at 7am this morning, and monitoring equipment has indicated that ground movements are continuing at the site.
Transport Scotland’s term maintenance contractor Bear Scotland are waiting for the all clear to be able to remove the debris and hope to be able to reopen the road before the end of the day.
Reports indicate that the landslide occurred too far west for the emergency route that was completed earlier this year to be used.
