A new report on light rapid transit systems from the Environment, Transport and Regional Affairs select committee has recommended that DETR 'make clear whether local authorities will be able to borrow capital for light rail schemes on the basis of future income streams from road user charging and workplace charging.' Paint stripping and ultrasonic testing on the welds, steel members and rivets near the blast will now follow. Repairs are expected to be completed by the end of August and will cost around £150,000.
