Dr Charles H Thornton, co-chairman of ThorntonTomasetti, was presented with the Hoover Medal, awarded for distinguished service by engineers to humanity, at the American Society of Civil Engineers conference in Washington. Thornton founded the ASCE Mentor Program, which offers training in architecture and engineering to 1,800 inner city high school students each year.
