lmperial College council last week voted in favour of instigating a substantial increase in tuition fees should the government decided to remove the £1,100 cap. The university loses £2,800 per year for each student it teaches, it said. One suggestion is to raise fees to £10,000 a year. Imperial does not believe higher fees will be introduced until 2006, also considering a merger with University College, London.
