The Institution of Structural Engineers has released a new edition of the 'Green Book', the Manual for the design of reinforced concrete building structures.

Local authorities and passenger transport organisations are being invited to bid for a share of a £500,000 fund for sustainable travel schemes. The Department for Transport aims to provide funding for a series of demonstration projects providing tailored information on alternative forms of transport.

Construction is due to begin next month on the West Winter Garden, a glass atrium providing public space for office workers and visitors at London's Canary Wharf development. The 30m by 30m atrium will stand 17m high and is made up of glass cladding supported by a free standing exposed steel frame.
