Ninety three construction firms have set out how much training they give their employees in a Construction Industry Training Board report.

The People Skills Scoreboard report shows that firms spent an average £458, or eight days training, for each directly employed person in the 19992000 financial year.

Competition minister Melanie Johnson has referred the acquisition of Southern Water's holding company by Vivendi Water UK to the Competition Commission. Vivendi Water already owns three water companies in the UK: Three Valleys Water Services, plus Tendring Hundred and Folkestone and Dover water companies.
