Mouchel this week announced it had acquired rail consultancy Metro Consulting as it attempts to increase its share of the rail market.

London based Metro has a staff of 140 and last year had a turnover of £6.5M. It provides specialist engineering, signalling and safety skills.

Mouchel chief executive Jim Harding said: 'The rail sector presents a challenging set of opportunities and we want to be at the forefront.'
