Gary Hart, the driver who veered on to the railway line resulting in the Great Heck train crash (NCE 8 March 2001), was last week sentenced to five years' imprisonment.

Former Corus structural steel marketing manager and head of the Corus Construction Advisory Centre Ian Cox is to be the first development director of new concrete marketing body Concrete Thinking. Cox will take up his £70,000 a year post in April, and is charged with boosting annual cement sales by 7% and driving concrete sales through the 4M. m 3a year barrier.
