Arriva Trains has won a 15 year franchise to run all trains in the newly integrated Wales and Borders area. The single franchise will replace the two separate contracts held by National Express and First North Western. In taking on the franchise, Arriva has committed to maintaining current service levels, introducing new diesel trains, increasing compensation paid for late running trains, and making car park improvements worth £400,000. The contract starts on 7 December.
