The number of pollution incidents caused by the construction, waste and water industries fell last year, contributing to a 21% reduction in environmental breaches.

Water and waste firms still top the Environment Agency's list of environmental offenders.

London Development Agency has appointed a masterplan team to design venues and infrastructure for the capital's 2012 Olympic bid. Work will also involve developing a regeneration strategy for the site surrounding the Olympic complex in the lower Lea Valley. Team members are consultants Mott MacDonald and Buro Happold, project manager is Mace, urban planner Edaw, architects are HOK Sport, Foreign Office, Allies & Morrison, and Fluid.
