The government is providing £100M of funding for construction of a new wing at the ISIS neutron laboratory at the Rutherford Appleton research complex near Didcot, Oxfordshire. Scientists use the facility to study the structure and behaviour of matter.

National Grid is pushing ahead with construction of a new £10M, 2.4km long cable tunnel under the Thames east of London. The tunnel will provide a 400kV link between Littlebrook in Kent and Thurrock in Essex. Contractor Amec is scheduled to drive the tunnel in August using a Lovat earth pressure balance tunnel boring machine. Designer is Babtie.

Black & Veatch Contracting has started construction of a turnkey water treatment, storage and distribution project in Turkmenabat, Turkmenistan.

It will supply 210,000 people.

Black & Veatch is working as mechanical and electrical contractor for Polimeks Construction of Turkey.
