Decommissioning the UK's £47.5bn worth of defunct nuclear infrastructure could be undertaken using the Private Finance Initiative, the government's new nuclear decommissioning agency said last week. The Treasury will be looking for the most cost effective ways of dismantling and making facilities safe, said Liabilities Management Unit head of contracts Doris Heim.
