Arup is the best company in the UK to work for if you are 55 or older. It won the gong at the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For awards last Thursday, and was ranked 29th overall. Project manager Mace came in at 50, consultant Faber Maunsell 56, contractor Kier Group 72, civils client British Waterways 77, and consultants Mott Macdonald 86, Black & Veatch 89 and Parkman 96.

The Crown Estate, which owns UK territorial waters, has asked for expressions of interest in developing new offshore wind farm sites.

Prospective developers have been asked to register their interest by 20 March. The move paves the way for construction of 3,000MW to 4,000MW of wind generating capacity, said the British Wind Energy Association.
