MPs on the House of Commons Transport Committee are to hold a one day hearing into proposals for a new toll road between Birmingham and Manchester (NCE last week).

The autumn hearing will examine the effectiveness of the existing M6 Toll road around Birmingham. It will consider how it has impacted on traffic, its effect on relieving congestion and whether it is cost effective and environmentally sensible.

Aviation Minister Tony McNulty has signed an order to remove limits on the number of aircraft that can take off and land at Stansted airport.

Uttlesford District Council will now have powers to set movement limits as is appropriate to fit in with the proposed expansion of the airport.
