The Tube Lines consortium responsible for upgrading part of London's Underground is opening a £7.5M training centre in August at the Stratford Market station depot.

It hopes to use the facility to train 25 new signalling engineers every year.

The new gas consultancy set up in July 2003 by Babtie Group has won two new contracts in the UK. The first is a framework to provide project management and support services to National Grid Transco and the second is a pilot study to carry out risk assessment on low pressure gas mains for gas infrastructure owners.

Scott Wilson Railways in a joint venture with Greek consultant OMETE AE has been awarded the contract to design an extension to the Athens metro. The total project value is estimated at approximately £692M. Scott Wilson will be managing the project and providing railway systems engineering.
