The Milan office of consultant Arup has been awarded the design contract for the high speed railway station in Florence following an international competition. Arup will be in joint venture with Foster & Partners, architect for the US$240M project.

An offer by COWI for the Norwegian consultant Interconsult has been endorsed by Interconsult's board. The amalgamated COWI group will have 3,500 employees and a turnover of US$350M, making it one of the largest consultants in northern Europe.

Hindustan Construction Co has won a third package of work for the Kudankulam nuclear power project in Tamil Nadu from client Nuclear Power Corporation of India.
