The Chinese government will be letting contracts to design and build 22 major new sporting venues for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Professor Michael Jackson of Philadelphia's Temple University, who is advising the Beijing Olympics Committee, will be presenting details of the work that needs to carried out, anticipated costs and funding routes at the Stadia & Arena conference 2002 in Lisbon, Portugal on 5 and 6 June.
