News: Wembley stadium

The developer of the new Wembley stadium said last week that it would be unable to incorporate athletics facilities within the project in time for the 2005 World Athletics Championship. Wembley National Stadium Ltd said this would take too long because it has still to buy an adjacent site for a warm up track. The news has opened the way for construction of a purpose built athletics stadium at Picketts Lock, north east London.
