News: Weeks

The ICE panel for historical engineering works has appointed consultant Weeks to investigate the disappearance of a horse and cart during construction of the Glenfinnan viaduct on the West Highland Railway in 1899. It is thought the horse fell down one of the viaduct's 32m tall hollow piers.

Sir Robert McAlpine, original contractor on the West Highland Railway, is funding the project.
