News: Roger Bullivant

Three complaints against the precast piling system of specialist Roger Bullivant have been upheld by the Federation of Piling Specialists. Twelve other complaints were rejected.

Five firms - Aarsleff, Stent, Van Elle, Expanded and Cementation Skanska - complained that the RB system which uniquely uses a glued rather than mechanical spigot joint presented unacceptable engineering risks of joints separating after revelations of a number of structural failures associated with the product.

Bullivant rejected the claims, arguing its product was valueengineered and offered economic piling solutions in appropriate conditions. The rulings require Bullivant to amend the Agrement Certificate governing the piles' use and its offer letter for the product.
