News: Railtrack

Railtrack has awarded infrastructure maintenance and management contracts worth £560M to Amey. The contracts are in the Midlands and Chilterns regions and work will be carried out under a partnering agreement designed to improve co-ordination between the two organsiations.

According to Amey the move is a direct response to last year's Hatfield rail crash. Amey this week announced pre-tax profit up 48% on last year at £39.3M.

Turnover increased by 34% to £700M.
