News: Northern Ireland rail system

The task force set up to analyse the options open to the Northern Ireland rail system has published its report. An earlier report said that without investment the system would have to be closed (NCE 29 June). Each option has now been costed and put before the regional development minister and committee. The finance minister is expected to present his draft budget next week, which will give first indications as to the importance that the NI Executive places on rail.
