Chancellor Gordon Brown and trade and industry secretary Patricia Hewitt have announced that the East Midlands is to receive £20M in regional venture capital funds.

The cash is designed to boost entrepreneurial activity in the area, currently placed seventh out of the nine UK regions in business creation.

A Black & Veatch and Taylor Woodrow joint venture has been awarded the contract for design and construction of the £80M Reading Sewage Treatment Works by Thames Water.
