French scientists at the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Batiment are developing the Equity2 software tool to manage waste in construction, from product design to demolition.

Overall award in the Percy Thomas Excellence Awards from the Ministry of Defence has gone to the Estates Management Information System developed for DERA in Sevenoaks, Kent. It speeds up and increases accuracy of estate data reporting. The system also won the smartest usage category. Other categories covered procurement, facilities management, and design.

Facilities management and infrastructure group Jarvis has increased turnover by 17% to £676.8M in the year to end of March 2001. Operating profit, before investment in systems and goodwill amortisation, was increased 26% to £52.9M.
