NEWS IN BRIEF: Warrington Wolves

Warrington Wolves rugby league club has been given the go ahead to build a 15,000 seater stadium on a former brewery site in the town's Winwick Road. The 7.5ha development will also include a Tesco supermarket and petrol station. The decision to grant planning permission brings to an end months of wrangling and campaigning by the club and local council. Construction is expected to start in the summer, ready for the 2003 Superleague season.
